How it works

The difference is the number of whole calendar days from the earlier date to the later one:

days = later date − earlier date

Weeks are the days divided by 7, and business days count only Monday–Friday in the range. The years/months/days breakdown counts real calendar months, so it accounts for different month lengths and leap years. Tick "include the end day" to count both the start and end dates.

Worked example

From Jan 1, 2026 to Jun 25, 2026:

Typical uses: a 90-day visa or return window starting Mar 15, 2026 runs out on Jun 13, 2026; a contract signed Feb 1 with a 30-business-day delivery clause lands on Mar 13 (weekends skipped); and counting inclusive days matters for billing — a stay from the 1st through the 7th is 7 billable nights only if the end day is included.

Frequently asked questions

How many days are between two dates?
Subtract the earlier date from the later date to get the number of whole days. This calculator does it for you and also shows the result in weeks, business days and a years-months-days breakdown — just enter any two dates above.
Does it count business days?
Yes. The 'business days' figure counts only weekdays (Monday to Friday) in the range and excludes weekends. It does not subtract public holidays, which vary by country and region.
Should I include the end day?
By default the calculator counts the gap between the two dates, excluding the end day. Tick 'include the end day' to count both the start and end dates — useful for billing periods or a holiday that runs through its last day.
Does it handle leap years?
Yes. It counts real calendar dates, so February 29ths and the different lengths of each month are handled automatically.
How do I find the date 90 days from today?
Enter today as the start date, then adjust the end date until the day count reads 90 — or add roughly three months and fine-tune. Ninety days is the common window for visas, returns, probation periods and prescription refills, and it is not the same as 3 calendar months (which can be 89–92 days).
Why do weeks and months give different answers for the same range?
Weeks are a fixed 7 days, but months vary from 28 to 31 days. A 90-day range is 12 weeks and 6 days, but could be '2 months 28 days' or '3 months' depending on which months it spans. For contracts, always specify days or business days rather than months when precision matters.
